For the love of my country... this is such a beautiful song by Ray Holman. This was posted on Sokah2Soca previously and for this Sunday it just feels right to share it with my islandvybe family. Regardless of what island you come from just take in this song; Trinis you have permission to cry!

If you are living away from Trinidad and Tobago and still yearn for the life you left behind, we are about to make you cry and reminisce about the "Ole Time Days". I just gave you a cheap plug to remember Nappy Myers' song, which tends to make emigrated Trinis cry. Today is a new day and with it comes another reason to shed a tear for the life you left behind. Today we present you with a tearjerker written and sung by legendary steelpan musician, composer, and arranger Ray Holman; the song is entitled, "Sweet Island Memories". This nostalgic song, along with nine other tracks, comes from the album "First Love."

Our goal is to bring back sweet memories. It is not meant to cause sadness but to help you recall all the pleasant memories of growing up in Trinidad and Tobago. This feeling and memory will be better appreciated by those who grew up in Trinidad during the '60s, '70s, and '80s. Times have changed and the fun of hanging out with friends in any neighborhood is now fraught with unknown danger lurking and waiting to create sadness. This song, presented here today, will surely make you smile and even shed a tear.  Definitely one to repeat. Enjoy!

Bonus Track - First Love

What mischief are Kes and Tano up to with this "Banga" song? He is using the term "Banga" to not say what he really wants to say... read on. Banga is a slang term for an attractive person whom one wants to have sex with! I told you Kes and Tano were up to some 'good mischief'!

Kes' latest single, "Banga", is a captivating blend of Soca, Pop-Soca, and Dancehall that is sure to get you moving. The song is a celebration of love and the power of music to bring people together.

The song opens with a catchy melody and Kees' smooth vocals, as he sings about missing his special loved one and the longing he feels for her. The song then builds in tempo and energy as the chorus kicks in, with Kees singing about the "Banga" that his loved one gives him. The chorus is a celebration of love and the feeling of being completely infatuated with someone.

The song's production is top-notch, with a mix of traditional Soca elements and more modern Pop and Dancehall influences. The result is a song that is both familiar and fresh, and that is sure to appeal to a wide range of listeners.

"Banga" is a perfect song for any party or celebration. It is a song that will get you moving and feeling good. It is also a song that is sure to stay with you long after you have finished listening to it.

Overall, "Banga" is a solid release from Kes. It is a song that is well-written, well-produced, and well-performed. It is a song that is sure to be a hit with fans of Soca and Pop-Soca and Dancehall music. Now you need to sell the idea of "Banga"! Do you really know what Kees is singing about? Ha... well we are confident that the comments will explain it all!
