Touch D Ground by Raymond Ramnarine: Inspired by the Guyanese People

It has been a while since we posted a Chutney Soca song. We have not ignored Chutney Soca music, as one can tell by our sidebar music posts for the genre. So why so little Chutney Soca? Simply put, there are two reasons. Firstly, the topics were tiresome, especially the 'rum songs'. Secondly, the main reason was the fact that Bollywood-themed songs took over from Caribbean originality. So, one may rightly ask, "Why this song?" Raymond is singing about Indian wedding experiences in the Caribbean that highlight the phenomenon of Bollywood song influence; however, he did so with the use of an infectious Caribbean Chutney Soca vibe. While we appreciate this approach, on the flip side, we find it unsatisfactory to incorporate the vibe of a Bollywood song into a Chutney Soca song, as it fails to capture the essence of Caribbean Chutney Soca.

We conclude with the following: we love Chutney Soca music and would definitely post more songs on this platform. Having said that, we think you will love this song and the entire production. Well done, Raymond, and kudos to the entire production team.

YouTube Notes (edited/rephrased):
The Guyanese people inspired me to recreate a dance—not just any ordinary dance, but a unique one. The catchy phrase "Touch D Ground, Touch D Ground" instantly sprang to mind as I observed their graceful dancing.

The pride, joy, and appreciation for the culture caught my immediate attention, but it was the expression of humility and respect for Mother Earth that has resonated with me since that day.

This music video revisits a traditional Hindu wedding theme, “The Wedding Ah the Year,” showing how people celebrate, enjoy, and dance to their favorite Bollywood songs.
