The First Citizens Supernovas Steel Orchestra delivered a stellar performance at the Panorama preliminaries last night, playing Johnny King’s Wet Me Down, arranged by Amrit Samaroo. Last night, the band—led by captain Amrit Samaroo—exhibited their musical talent with a stellar performance. Their lively and energetic rendition of the classic calypso song "Wet Me Down" is one to remember.

The band, hailing from Surrey Village, Lopinot Road, Arouca, was the first to perform in the Eastern Region of the large category preliminaries. They faced tough competition from other bands such as Harmonites and Exodus, but they did not let that deter them from giving their best.

The arrangement by Amrit Samaroo, son of the legendary Jit Samaroo, featured a variety of dynamic and rhythmic changes, as well as creative harmonies and melodies. The band also displayed a high level of coordination and synchronization and a clear and balanced sound. The band’s performance impressed the audience in attendance, which earned them a standing ovation and loud applause.

The band is confident that they will make it to the semi-finals, and they are looking forward to improving their performance even more. They are grateful for the support of their sponsor, First Citizens, and their fans, who have been with them throughout their journey. They are also proud to represent their community and culture and hope to inspire the next generation of pan players.

To conclude, those tenor pans were amazing; the bass section shared the stage, and the middle pans evened things out. As a result, one can only say, that First Citizens Supernovas orchestration shone brightly at the 2024Panorama preliminaries with Wet Me Down!
