"Disco," a new song by Badjohn Republic, transports us to the era when Disco Daddy dominated radio. At Sokah2Soca, we were thrilled about Nello's inclusion. After watching the music video and listening to the song, I felt somewhat disappointed. The music is good; the use of brass is a plus, but they did not use Nello enough to remind us of the impact of the Disco Daddy! Damn, what a missed opportunity.

Which Caribbean Soca singer, in your opinion, has a voice that soothes your inner spirit, brings joy when you hear it, and is both sensual and soulful at the same time? In terms of Soca music, I can think of Kes, and Voice, but Teddyson John from Saint Lucia stands out for his smooth and captivating voice. The man who gave us "Allez" is back at it again with a sweet and soulful track titled "Me Lover." If you are the romantic type, then this song—a song that captures the essence of island romance with every beat and lyric—is for you!

Today, on WACK radio 90.1 FM, the Kenny Phillips show showcased songs from a bygone era remade with a modern spin. Why did we do this? Simply put, many listeners are unaware that some of these songs are remakes. Today, we showcase a song from Carl and Carol Jacobs' original show, "Fix It Up." The remake by GBM Nutron and Farmer Nappy, "In the Center," used the music and melody but with different lyrics. We will showcase the songs, but first, let's discuss why a remake is beneficial.
- Remaking a song from the past brings a fresh vibe to timeless classics, blending nostalgia with modern creativity.
- It's like breathing new life into a melody that shaped our memories, offering a new generation the chance to connect with it.
- These revivals can showcase the evolution of musical styles and production techniques, creating a bridge between eras.
- Plus, they often spark renewed interest in the original artists and their work, celebrating their enduring influence.
