A bygone era of music in Trinidad and Tobago saw the release of "Fiery" by Maestro; that was back in 1976! Maestro told us in the song, "That is how we are coming," and today, Mical Teja released a song that embodies the essence of Maestro's "Fiery." Today, we are pleased to feature new music for Trinidad and Tobago's 2025 Carnival. This is the electrifying new music release from Mical Teja, produced by Mical Teja and the talented Michael "Tano" Montano. The dynamic duo has crafted a track that will set ablaze the carnival spirit for every fete, parade, and party in sweet Trinidad and Tobago.
"Energy" delivers on its title, delivering a high-octane, pulse-pounding anthem that will undoubtedly grace this year's Carnival soundtrack. From the very first beat, the song builds up and captures the vibrant essence of Trinidad and Tobago's Carnival, blending irresistible rhythms with infectious melodies. Mical Teja’s powerful vocals soar over the expertly produced track, delivering a performance that's both captivating and exhilarating.
The sweet fusion of our traditional Soca with today's modern music production techniques multiplies the joy that Teja brings to his music. This song captures the spirit and energy of Trinidad's carnival culture. Just like DNA, this song will grow on you, grow, and become a favorite for Carnival 2025. Teja wants everyone to recognize and comprehend that this "energy" stems from our mutual love, particularly our love for our culture.
"Energy" is ready to become the defining anthem of Carnival 2025. Whether you're on the road, at a carnival fete, or just enjoying the vibes with friends, let Mical Teja's "Energy" be the soundtrack to your carnival experience. We absolutely love it here at Sokah2Soca and believe that this energy will overflow and vault "Energy" to the top of radio station playlists. Enjoy.

Which Caribbean Soca singer, in your opinion, has a voice that soothes your inner spirit, brings joy when you hear it, and is both sensual and soulful at the same time? In terms of Soca music, I can think of Kes, and Voice, but Teddyson John from Saint Lucia stands out for his smooth and captivating voice. The man who gave us "Allez" is back at it again with a sweet and soulful track titled "Me Lover." If you are the romantic type, then this song—a song that captures the essence of island romance with every beat and lyric—is for you!
Teddy's charming voice, the song's catchy chorus, and vibrant instrumentation invite listeners to experience the warmth of the islands through traditional musical elements, resulting in a song that is both fresh and deeply rooted in Caribbean culture. On the other hand, the song exudes sensuality, making it an ideal choice for a lively Caribbean party.
Soca music typically features elements such as jumping up and having a good time, moving to the left or right, whining, and jamming. Having said that, "Me Lover" takes us on a romantic journey with lyrics that feel so good. Yes, Soca music can create that long needed love connection that so many claim to be missing in the genre. Teddyson is the architect of Love-Soca with his captivating voice. "Me Lover" is relatable yet distinctly flavored with passion and the vibe of Soca. His smooth vocals and heartfelt delivery make this track not just a song, but an experience.
Teddy's "Me Lover" invites you to immerse yourself in its captivating magic. Whether you're a long-time fan of Caribbean music or new to the genre, "Me Lover" will set the mood and draw you into the best of what makes Soca music so sweet.
We love the song and recommend it as one to add to your playlist. "Me Lover" is a celebration of love, life, and the vibrant spirit of the islands—something we all could use a little more of in our lives.

Today, on WACK radio 90.1 FM, the Kenny Phillips show showcased songs from a bygone era remade with a modern spin. Why did we do this? Simply put, many listeners are unaware that some of these songs are remakes. Today, we showcase a song from Carl and Carol Jacobs' original show, "Fix It Up." The remake by GBM Nutron and Farmer Nappy, "In the Center," used the music and melody but with different lyrics. We will showcase the songs, but first, let's discuss why a remake is beneficial.
If you go online, one can find numerous articles about the virtues of remaking a song. Having said that, we outline the following factors that contribute to the success of certain remakes:
Remaking a song from the past brings a fresh vibe to timeless classics, blending nostalgia with modern creativity.
It's like breathing new life into a melody that shaped our memories, offering a new generation the chance to connect with it.
These revivals can showcase the evolution of musical styles and production techniques, creating a bridge between eras.
Plus, they often spark renewed interest in the original artists and their work, celebrating their enduring influence.
Kenny refers to the discussion as an "examination of the remakes," delving into the pros and cons that come with these changes. Not everyone asked for permission to remake the song or even used the melodies associated with the music. Today, everything ends up in court, but some people don't have the money to pursue the perpetrators or believe suing isn't worth it because there's no financial gain and it could cost them money, defeating the goal of the lawsuit.
Today, this post features a very popular and musically excellent song by Carl and Carol Jacob titled "Fix It Up." This song continues to be a popular choice for parties. Do you believe that someone could perform 'Fix it Up' to a higher standard? "Fix it Up" is a timeless song. Consequently, GBM Nutron and Farmer Nappy penned new lyrics and utilized the melody/music of "Fix It Up" to craft a new song, "In the Center." People loved "In the Center," but trust me, "Fix it Up" will undoubtedly be the song that lives on forever.
Both songs share the same musical elements, but "In the Center" has a contemporary vibe that may appeal to younger listeners, while purists will always favor "Fix It Up." It is laudable that GBM Nutron and Farmer Nappy sampled "Fix It Up," using the melody to create an excellent song. Kudos to the artists for celebrating the work of Carl and Carol Jacobs.
What distinguishes the two productions? Obviously, the artists singing are different, but more importantly, the eras are decades apart. Consider this: the production styles and techniques from 1987's "Fit it Up" to 2023's "In the Center" are significantly different. Some would say that music from past decades has a better sound than today's new computer electronic sound. Some may prefer the sound of live brass over computer-generated brass. Finally, the lyrics are different. "In the Center" caters to the youth and the changes in society that allow for more brazen discourse. "Fix it Up" is just pure niceness; the music and lyrics are superior as far as I am concerned. Then again, to each his own.
The success or failure of a remake ultimately depends on the legality of remaking a song, the quality of the production, the current era, and the influence of social media on our society. If you were unaware that "In the Center" was a sample from "Fix It Up," we fulfilled our duty. We have to thank Kenny Phillips of WACK for highlighting things we take for granted. There are numerous remakes available, and we encourage you to watch today's program on the WACK Radio site on YouTube.
