When you’ve reached the top, your journey deserves celebration, not only for your accomplishments but for becoming one of the “most in-demand” artists in the Soca music scene. Today, we’re talking about none other than Ian “Bunji Garlin” Alvarez—a talent who commands respect and admiration worldwide. DJ Warrior and DJ Black Warrior recognize the Viking of Soca’s legendary impact, honoring him with a dynamic mix that captures his essence. With the support of Nikki G, “The Voice,” we’re thrilled to feature this powerhouse collaboration on Sokah2Soca, saluting the DJs and the music that moves us all.

From Nikki G Media:
American-born brothers DJ Warrior and DJ Black Warrior bring a deep, vibrant Caribbean influence on their work, reflecting their rich heritage from Trinidad, Grenada, Barbados, and Panama. Their uncle, Terrance Collymore, was a member of the legendary band “Wildfire,” inspiring the brothers’ connection to music from a young age.

The younger of the two, DJ Warrior, curated a special project celebrating the music of iconic Trinidadian Soca star Bunji Garlin, from Trinidad and Tobago. Collaborating with Nikki G, known as “The Voice,” DJ Warrior created a mega-mix of Bunji Garlin’s greatest hits through the years, including the Soul Train Award-winning anthem “Differentology.”

Who is Bunji Garlin?
Bunji Garlin, aka "The Viking of Soca," is a unique talent in the business of Soca music. Bunji Garlin, also known as "The Viking of Soca," is undeniably the leader of Ragga Soca and has established himself as an internationally recognized Soca talent from Trinidad and Tobago. Born Ian Antonio Alvarez on July 14, 1978, a son of Cumuto on the outskirts of the town of Arima (his hometown), Bunji, as he is affectionately known, is unparalleled in his contributions to Soca, although his wife, Fayann Lyons Alvarez, may have something to say about that. His consistency is evident in his multiple Soca Monarch titles for Ragga Soca, People's Choice Champion, and template Soca music.

One of his proudest moments in the Soca music industry came when he won the "Best International Performance" category award at the Soul Train Awards. In 2013, Sheriff Music produced his widely popular song "Differentology," which won the award at the award show in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA. Fans recognize this song for its "Ready For Di Road" hook.

Whether you're a long-time fan or new to his music, Bunji Garlin's contributions to Soca music are undeniable. His passion, energy, and innovative approach make him a true legend in the world of Soca. The mixtape contribution from DJ Young Warrior and DJ Black Warrior today clearly demonstrates Bunji's musical talent and dominance in the competitive world of Soca music.
