Today, we're celebrating the top 10 Parang Soca and Soca Parang songs played on WACK Radio 90.1 FM! The countdown was originally for the top 50 songs of all time, but we're highlighting the top 10 for you. These vibrant tunes capture the essence of our culture and bring people together during the festive season. Stay tuned as we dive into the rhythms and melodies that have defined Parang Soca and Soca Parang, making them beloved staples in our celebrations!

Dedicated listeners sent in numerous lists from which we selected these songs. Mr. Kenny Phillips, CEO of WACK Radio and owner of KMP Music, curated the final compilation. His expertise in curating music ensured that the collection not only reflected the diverse tastes of the audience but also highlighted memorable classic hits. This carefully crafted playlist promises to resonate with fans old and new and will hopefully create a memorable listening experience.

Kenny Phillips and Tony Prescott, the legendary Soca artist and radio presenter of "All Aboard" fame, were featured in the radio station countdown. They shared stories and engaged in conversation with several callers, offering their insights on the song selections and chart position. As the countdown reached its climax, listeners were treated to a raucous laughter and a final outpouring of joy that the countdown was done but also celebrated the enormous talent that Trinidad and Tobago offers to the world.

Now before you get into the music and the song listing, the question you may be asking is as follows: What is Soca Parang, and how is it different from Parang Soca? We aim to provide the following information to aid your understanding:
Parang Music is the mother of both Soca Parang and Parang Soca. We introduced modern electronic instruments alongside the traditional Parang instruments and created a style of Parang music with a strong Soca vibe via the electronic bass guitar. Soca Parang features the Soca music bass leading the vibe, while Parang Soca relies on the traditional Parang rhythm as the foundation for the music.

Here are the top 10 Parang Soca songs that made the cut, starting at 10 and working top down to number 1:
  • 10. Bring  Out The  Ham - Marcia Miranda
  • 09. Black Cake and Sorrel - Mastermind Productions
  • 08. The Paint Brush - Kenny J
  • 07. Madame Jeffery - Scrunter
  • 06. Leroy - Scrunter
  • 05. Muchacha - Crazy
  • 04. Soca Santa - Machel Montano x Daisy Voison
  • 03. Trini Christmas Is The Best - Susan Macio
  • 02. Spanish Woman - Baron
  • 01. Come Go - Baron
This incredible collection features some very special songs, with a few of the singers no longer with us, but their music will never be forgotten. These tracks continue to bring joy and festive vibes to everyone, keeping the spirit of Parang Soca alive and well. Do you agree with this list? What are some of your favorite Parang Soca songs? I absolutely agree with this list! It's amazing how music can transcend time and keep cultural traditions vibrant.

I express myself through these song selections today. I love Groove Soca and songs that convey feelings that reach into my soul. Today, I have compiled a list of my top 10 recent music releases for Carnival 2025, a list that truly reflects my personal style. I expect to get some serious blows for these song selections as fans express their disappointment over the lack of variety in the lineup. Many are calling for a return to the roots of Soca music, hoping to see more traditional sounds and influences in future releases. Then there will be those who criticize the lack of any fast-paced Soca. I am currently experiencing a "moment!" and I am a fan of Groove Soca music.

However, it's not the popular songs that make "Santiwah" feel content when he listens to them. Music is all about mood and feel, and this is my mood today (Sunday, December 22, 2024). Of course I cheated; I have eleven songs on my list!

Kahil Gibran once said, "Music is the language of the spirit. It opens the secret of life, bringing peace and abolishing strife." My selections calm my soul and make me feel good.

You may or may not connect with the ten songs, but that's perfectly acceptable. Most of the songs are just 'good feelings,' but the last two provide a change of mood that you will absolutely love. I will end with this: "C'est La Vie!"

We're not here to promote "White Oak Rum," but we wholeheartedly believe that Patrice Roberts' new music on the "White Oak Rum Riddim" deserves our attention! When I heard this song, I immediately said to myself, "This song has a nice groove that makes you want to dance!" Patrice's captivating vocals and the infectious rhythm create an unforgettable experience that resonates with listeners, making it a standout track in the current music scene. This production is a winner!" If this song fails to ignite the stage for Carnival 2025, then I have lost touch with the essence that makes Soca so relevant for Carnival.

Let's dive into the production of this awesome song. Seumas Callender wrote "Levels" (really good stuff here), and the very talented Nikholai Greene of N.M.G. Music produced, mixed, and mastered it. "Levels" is a perfect blend of captivating lyrics, powerful vocals, and stellar music production. The flow of the music is simply awesome, creating an irresistible urge to dance and celebrate the vibrant spirit of Carnival.

We are confident in saying the following: A song by Patrice Roberts is always an excellent choice. She is so talented, and her enchanting voice brings Seumas Callender's brilliant lyrics to life, while N.M.G. Music's production adds layers of depth and energy to the track. This combination makes "Levels" stand out as one of the best releases for the upcoming Carnival season.

I am confident that this song will make the cut. I sincerely hope that the radio stations across the republic give this song a fair chance for radio play. We will monitor YouTube and see how well this song does. This song had me at "first listen." So, press play, enjoy the vibe, and share this post on social media. We will do our part, and if you feel what we feel, then share the love.
