Rikki Jai and Yung Bredda serve up a pot bubbling with vibes in their new Chutney Soca release, “Aloo.” It’s been a minute since we featured a Chutney track, but this one was too tasty to ignore—a cheeky ode to local cuisine with a saucy twist bold enough to make tamarind sauce blush and chadon beni hide its face. There is more to the sauce in this video and one could say it is teasingly saucy.

The duo blends humor, heat, and pure Trini mischief, supported by a rhythm section that feels like a backyard lime turned up to festival level. The music video only adds to the fun, matching the song’s playful energy beat for beat.

“Aloo” was written by Bjorn Graham, Samraj Jaimungal, and Akhenaton Lewis, with production magic from The KVG x Trini‑Baby, plus background vocals from Trini‑Baby and Bjorn Graham. Engineering comes courtesy of Kasey Phillips of Precision Productions, and the track was recorded by Stephon Gabriel.

We loved the very funny and visually invigorating end to the music video. This is a wickedly flavorful addition to the 2026 Chutney Soca season—and a welcome return to the genre on Sokah2Soca.

When Preedy and Destra Garcia link up, you expect fireworks—but “History in the Making” goes a step further. It’s a declaration. A celebration. A call to movement. And a reminder that when two powerful voices in the culture decide to build something together, the result is nothing short of electric.

From the first bar, the track radiates pure energy. The production leans into a vibrant, feel‑good groove powered by live guitars and a clean, well‑balanced mix that provides the song its bright, forward‑driving pulse. It’s the kind of arrangement that feels tailor‑made for the road, the stage, and every fête in between—a sonic space where both artists shine without stepping on each other’s fire.

What truly anchors the song, though, is its audience‑first spirit. Preedy and Destra tap into that timeless soca instinct: get the people involved, get the people moving, and get the people feeling like they’re part of something bigger. With lines urging the crowd to lift their hands and join the moment, the track becomes more than a performance—it becomes a shared experience. A communion.

Can we get real? Let's ponder the importance of the title. This is where we get into the details. “History in the Making” isn’t just a catchy phrase; it’s a statement of intent. The collaboration itself is a moment. The energy is a moment. The unity between artist and audience is a moment. Together, they form something that feels destined to echo long after Carnival 2026.

Preedy brings his smooth, melodic command. Destra brings her unmatched bacchanal stage presence and vocal power. The production ties it all together with a modern sound grounded in live instrumentation. The resulting production feels both celebratory and purposeful—it is a reminder that soca’s magic comes when talented people pool resources. This will be a magical time for these artists. It will be "History in the Making!"

We like the vibes and what we hear. If Carnival 2026 follows this path, then indeed, we are creating history.

Carnival 2026 gets a fresh injection of vibes with the release of Blockbuster Riddim, a tightly produced Soca compilation featuring five standout tracks—each one crafted by producer Michael "Tano" Montano.

This selection of songs delivers a clean, easy‑listening groove from start to finish—a set of tracks built more for club energy, lounge settings, and party‑time moments than the full‑throttle pace of Trinidad Carnival.

The lineup is stacked:
  • Kes delivers smooth seduction with “Just a Taste.”
  • Denzil Coutain brings the title track “Blockbuster” with full cinematic flair.
  • Mical Teja lifts the energy on “Pick Me Up.”
  • GBM Nutron embraces a glam style with the track “Hollywood.”
  • Fullblown rallies the crew on “One For The Team.”
These aren’t power‑feting tunes—they’re laid‑back, melodic, and groove‑driven, perfect for a night out, a club set, or a cool‑down lime. A different lane, but a solid one.

I have been a little tough on Machel Montano and his music releases for 2026. That said, I cannot apply the same criticism to this song. This one has the potential to make a run at the Road March Crown. I like the message and the vibe, and Machel always brings energy, regardless of whether you like the song or not. This one is rocking, and with that, he turns up the temperature once again with “Encore,” a high-voltage release that pushes straight into Carnival 2026 with pure performance adrenaline. The official music video sets the tone from the opening scene—a quiet check-in before the storm—before exploding into movement, color, and that signature Machel stage intensity... energy and vibes.

Driven by a pulsing refrain of “Heat,” the track builds like a live show in real time, capturing the nervous energy, anticipation, and eruption of a crowd waiting for greatness. The visuals match the vibe: dynamic choreography, bold lighting, and Mas artistry shaped by legendary designer Peter Minshall and The Callaloo Company, all adding theatrical weight to the production.

Behind the music, the team is stacked. XplicitMevon & Badjohn Republic handle production, with writing by Andre Jeffers (Perception Management) and Machel himself. Guitars from Kyle Peters and Kenny Phillips, plus background vocals from Karyce Phillips and Kendel Haynes, round out the sonic palette. The video—produced by Twin Island Company and directed by Josiah Persad—brings together stylists, choreographers, musicians, dancers, and Mas performers for a full cinematic experience.

The story comes full circle with a closing phone call confirming everything is “safe and sound,” a clever echo of the opening that frames the entire performance as a controlled blaze. The storytelling was excellent and the music, along with Machel's energy, made this song work for me. We will watch this one with a positive vibe and positive energy, in the same manner Machel delivered the song.

No one can deny the activation of Carnival energy in the end. Machel delivers once more—and the people will be calling for an encore.
