"Cool Down" is a groove-soca song by Trinidadian artist Olatunji, released in 2023 as part of the Hard Rock Riddim. The song is a catchy and upbeat tune that showcases Olatunji's vocal range and charisma. The lyrics are solid and express the singer's desire to settle down with his lover, whom he invites to meet his mother. He sings, "I wish that you could meet my mother; she would love you like no other; she would tell you I'm a good boy; and I'm ready for this love and joy." This is a man opening his heart and soul; he is emotionally ready to commit and start a family.

Olatunji Yearwood, Kitwana Israel, Jason Gilbert, and Justin “CoolBlaze” Elliott did a wonderful job lyrically. They exposed the insides of a man in love—a man opening his heart and soul—who is emotionally ready to commit to someone who has blown him away. Talk about taming the rampaging and roaming lion; he is now settled and ready for the next stage. Don't ever get between a man and his mother. "I wish that you could meet my mother." He is ready!

The song has a positive and uplifting vibe, with a blend of traditional and modern elements. The electric guitar, bass guitar, and drums add a rock flavor to the soca rhythm, while the horns and steel pan create a festive atmosphere. The song is well-produced by AdvoKit Productions and Scorch Bun It.

Cool Down is a refreshing and enjoyable song that will make you want to dance and sing along. It is a perfect example of Olatunji's versatility and talent as a soca artist. The song is available on YouTube, Spotify, and other streaming platforms.

Move over, ordinary soca, because Destra Garcia's "Soca Eden" has arrived, and it's pure, unadulterated bliss. This isn't some manufactured pop-soca fluff; this is the real deal, straight from the "Queen of Bacchanal" herself. Forget lip-syncing and autotune—Destra Garcia sings with the raw passion and vibrant soul of the legendary "Blacks" (that man had had throat) who paved the way for today's soca scene. She doesn't need fancy production to mask her lack of talent; her voice alone can make a hurricane jump up and wave its flag.

This is Groove Soca at its finest, marinated in Destra's signature class and seasoned with her unwavering love for the genre. "This is Soca Eden," she declares, and you believe her. Every note oozes with the joy, the longing, and the very essence of carnival. You can hear the years of dedication, the sweat and tears poured onto the stage, woven into the fabric of this song. It's a love letter to Soca, a testament to its power to unite, liberate, and set our hearts ablaze. Lyrics of love to Soca and Carnival:

Land ah de party
Land of the free
Land ah de party
That is we
We are the soul of Carnival
We are the feting capital
We who start the tradition
Love on a high note
Down on the Soca Eden
Bring back the vibe now
Leh we show dem Soca Eden
Soca Rum and Steelband playing
Down in de Soca Eden

And let's not forget the magic behind the production. The experience and talent of XplicitMevon's production make it a masterpiece of its own—clean, smooth, and bursting with sonic sunshine. Every layer of this composition fits in place masterfully, from keys by Stemz Production to Kyle Peters' guitar and Jeron Paul's bass, which fit together seamlessly, building a foundation for Destra's vocals to soar. Anthony Lowhar's mixing and mastering add the final polish, ensuring every drop of Soca goodness reaches your ears in pristine quality.

"Soca Eden" feels mature and refined, like a fine wine of the soca world. It's professionally done and meticulously crafted, yet it never loses its soul. This is music for grown-ups who know their Soca and who appreciate the depth and nuance that a seasoned pro like Destra Garcia can bring.

In short, "Soca Eden" is everything you want in a soca song and more. It's a celebration, a declaration, and a sonic paradise. So crank up the volume, dust off your dancing shoes, and let Destra Garcia transport you to the heart of Soca Eden. You won't regret it.

Recommendation: Highly recommended and would love to hear this on the Steelpan. This is a must-have for any true Soca lover's playlist.

Bunji Garlin, the Trinidadian Ragga Soca artist and international Soca royalty, is back with a new song that is sure to electrify the Carnival season. The song, titled “110 Overcharged”, is a fast-paced, energetic, and catchy tune that showcases Bunji’s signature style and voice.

The song is a follow-up to his previous hit “Hard Fete”, which won the prestigious Road March title in 2023. For those not familiar with the competition: The Road March is the musical composition played most often at the judging points along the parade route during the Caribbean Carnival. It is considered a musical genre and a measure of popularity and influence in the Soca scene.

“Hard Fete” was a colossal soca track that captured the spirit and vibe of the Trinidad and Tobago Carnival. It featured Bunji’s powerful vocals, witty lyrics, and infectious rhythm. Water, powder, and all the bacchanal that comes with the revelry of carnival are in this song. Hands in the air and starting at 110 is sure to raise the temperature for this carnival.

“110 Overcharged” is a song that is guaranteed to make you move, groove, and sweat. It is a song that celebrates the culture and passion of the Carnival, as well as the talent and charisma of Bunji Garlin. It is a song that is destined to be a road march contender and a soca classic. It is a song that is 110 overcharged.

Soca music is a vibrant genre that is at the heart of all Caribbean-styled carnivals worldwide. As with all music genres, people are always interested in the top songs; they seek out a "Top 10" chart. Today, after a brief hiatus, Sokah2Soca is, once again, featuring the current chart. So, for the chart-seekers and for those who love to live in the moment, here are the COTT Soca Top Ten Radio Plays for the week of December 28, 2023–January 3, 2024.

It should be noted, however, please note that this chart does not include YouTube or paid online downloads. This chart simply tracks radio plays in Trinidad and Tobago. As a result, the actual chart may not reflect the most popular Soca songs favored by the public, but songs that radio professionals deem significant enough to play on the radio.

One of the sources of information about the latest trends and popular songs in soca music is the Cott Radio Play chart. The Top 10 is a chart published by the Copyright Organization of Trinidad and Tobago (COTT). COTT is a non-profit organization that represents the interests of composers, authors, and publishers of musical works in Trinidad and Tobago. The organization collects and distributes royalties to its members for the public performance and broadcast of their works, including on radio stations.

The Cott Radio Play chart is based on data provided by a sample of Trinidad and Tobago radio stations that report their weekly airplay to COTT. The chart reflects the total number of plays each song received during the week, and the data is weighted to account for differences in the number of radio stations and their audience sizes.

Since sourcing Soca music is mostly based on YouTube searches and Julien Promos DJ packs, we have included this chart as a public service. However, we don't believe that this chart is a true reflection of the most popular Soca tracks today because the turnover takes too long.
