Kes wanted a "Mental Day" but in Barbados, while the feeling is the same, they experience mental breaks a little differently. Marvay, one of my favorite Soca artists, wants you to fete your problems away. Oh, by the way, the song is titled "Away". This is just a feel-good vibe, a song that encourages the listener to let go and have a good time. If you follow that advice, "everything should be all right.".

As I mentioned previously, Marvay is one of my favorite Soca bards from the Caribbean basin. The man has a singer's throat, in other words, he has a voice that you will enjoy listening to, and he delivers every time.

Kudos to the production team of Chris Allman and Anthony Lowhar, well done. There was no mental drain on this musical production. Just excellent vibes. The decision to use live instruments is notable and serves the production well. When you look at the production notes, you appreciate the work done by all individuals in this production. We need more live instruments in today's Soca.

So there you have it. Take your mental day, then go ahead and fete your problems away... "let them go"! We love the lyrical content, the earworm vocals by Marvay, the live instruments in the production and the musical arrangement done by all those responsible for "Away". We believe you will love this song. Enjoy!!

"Good Energy" is a newly released song by Shornbeats, Double R, and Killy. The song features the sweet sound of the steelpan, along with a very danceable vibe. It is a feel-good song with a catchy melody and an upbeat tempo. There is a sense of spreading positive vibes, of releasing carnival energy, and of having a good time in the lyrics. The song is ideal for any occasion, whether you're partying with friends or just relaxing at home.

Kudos to the production team of Jussbusscamp Records. We love the work done on this song. The lyrics, written by Shornbeats, Double R and Killy are simple, inviting and easy to remember and act on. Considering everything, we love the steelpan vibe, the vocals and the musical production and believe you will feel the same.

So, there you have it. If you're looking for a song to put you in a festive mood, "Good Energy" will surely get you there. It's a feel-good song with a catchy melody and an upbeat tempo that will have you singing along in no time. You don't have to be in Dominica, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Grenada to enjoy this track... it is a musical gift to all Caribbean style music cultures around the World.

The St. Vincent Carnival, known as Vincy Mas, is a vibrant and exhilarating celebration that encapsulates the spirit and culture of the beautiful Caribbean Island of St. Vincent. This annual extravaganza is a colorful fusion of music, dance, and revelry. It brings together locals and visitors alike in a joyous display of unity and excitement. The streets come alive with the pulsating rhythms of Soca, calypso music and intricately adorned masqueraders' parade through the city. They are adorned in stunning costumes adorned with feathers, sequins, and vibrant hues. The air is filled with the scent of delicious local cuisine, and the atmosphere is electric with the infectious energy of revelers. The St. Vincent Carnival is a true testament to the island's rich heritage and exuberant spirit, creating an unforgettable experience for all who participate.

That's cool, now that we got that out of the way we have to talk about the music that makes it all happen. The people of St. Vincent are proud of their culture. If you ask any Vincy citizen about their carnival celebrations, they will tell you they are the best in the Caribbean. When it comes to their music, they will tell you they are the innovators and push Ragga Soca and Soca in general to higher heights. Now we don't get into the hype or deal with insular vibes. We are a Caribbean community, but each island has a unique feel associated with its people and culture. We love them all. So, having said that, today we present a mixtape of some of the earliest power Soca tracks out of Saint Vincent for Vincy Mas 2023. Tell us if the music lives up to the hype.

Here is the latest chart from COTT for the week ending May 11th -17th, 2023. The top songs are still number s 1 and 2 by Come Home by Nailah Blackman and Skinny Fabulous have edged up to the number three spot pushing Like Yuself by Machel and Patrice Roberts into fourth place. Entering the chart at number 10 is Hall of Fame by Mical Teja, this song is definitely deserving of since it was very popular for carnival 2023. Take a look and see if you song made the chart and tell up what you think COTT can do to improve the charting process.

For those new to this chart, here is a little reminder from previous chart posts:
Here is a little housekeeping regarding COTT and the current playlist. COTT is a non-profit organization that represents composers, authors, and publishers of musical works in Trinidad and Tobago. The organization collects and distributes royalties to its members for the public performance and broadcast of their works, including on radio stations.

The COTT Radio Play chart is based on data provided by a sample of Trinidad and Tobago radio stations that report their weekly airplay to COTT. The chart reflects the total number of plays each song received during the week. A weighted average of the data is then used to adjust for the differences in the number of radio stations and audiences among them.

COTT:
"Our chart is informed by data obtained from VERICAST - the software used by COTT to capture this and other types of musical data".
