Today we post an unexpected music release out of Trinidad and Tobago. The song, titled "One Family, Trinidad Anthem," is being promoted as "a unifying anthem for these unprecedented times" by the production team. This song reminds us of another groundbreaking song from the past, "We Are The World." But this song can and should be sung globally, not just in the Caribbean diaspora.
The song, produced by SupaYouth and Tennille Amor, features artists like Bunji Garlin, Rheon Elbourne, Jahllano, Jalifa, and AMI, with additional lyrical contributions from Jah-Z Blaze, Mr. King, and Kid Volt.
The song confronts violence, prejudice, and division, calling for empathy, accountability, and love. Live, love, and be fulfilled; you should want for others what you want for yourself. The song serves as a rallying cry for civility and harmony. The message coming from this effort is praiseworthy and should help popularize the song. Back in July, Mical Teja and Tano dropped a gem on us—"Weekend (TGFW)"—a track so beautifully written and produced, it instantly became a Sokah2Soca favorite. The song's vibes, vocals, and message embodied pure Soca soul.
I believe that we will continue to play this song year after year. Yes, this is a signature song that will become a party anthem for every carnival to come in Trinidad and Tobago.
